Bylaws of Asian Biophysics Association

(July 20, 2007)

Article 1. Name

The name of the association is Asian Biophysics Association (ABA hereafter).​

Article 2. Objectives

The objectives of the Asian Biophysics Association are to promote biophysical research and education and to disseminate the knowledge and techniques in biophysics within and among Asian nations and regions.​

Article 3. Membership

3.1.

Membership in ABA shall be open to the Biophysical Societies or equivalent Academic Societies of each Asian nation as well as to regional equivalent Societies.

3.2.

Application to join ABA by new Societies shall be discussed in the
ABA Steering Committee.

3.3.

The foundation members are from the Biophysical Societies of the following nations and regions: Australia, China-Beijing, ChinaTaipei, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Korea, in alphabetical order.

Article 4. Officers

The Officers of ABA shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
The President and Secretary shall be elected from the host Society of the most recent ABA Symposium. The Vice-President shall be elected from the host Society of the upcoming ABA Symposium.​

Article 5. Steering Committee

The Steering Committee of ABA shall be composed of all member Societies. Each member Society shall nominate two Steering Committee members.​

Article 6. Activity

ABA is authorized to hold the ABA Symposium once every three years. There shall be a business meeting of the Association during ABA Symposium.​

Article 7. Finance

The activities of each member Society shall be supported by its own Society. Any surplus funds from an ABA symposium shall revert to the host Society.​

Article 8. Amendments

Article 8. Amendments
Amendments may be initiated by individual members of the Steering Committee.
Amendments must be approved by a majority of members in the ABA Steering Committee.​
